US Cartridge Box Plate - Inventory Number: BEL 509 / SOLD

Cartridge box plates were displayed on the outer flap of the soldier's cartridge box. Not only ornamental but more practically used as a weight to keep the cartridge box flap closed to prevent cartridge loss. Good, excavated condition. Its brass front, with raised letters "US", has a mostly brown patina. Attachment loops are not present. The plate has no cracks or repairs. Recovered: Northern Georgia.

Comes housed in 6 x 8 riker display case with red velvet and descriptive card.
