US Dragoon Artillery Plate - Inventory Number: BEL 033 - SOLD

Rare Two-piece Interlocking U.S. Sword Belt Plate.  Very nice non-excavated example of this desirable two-piece belt plate.  When encountered with a belt it is typically mounted for the model 1832 short artillery sword, or the model 1840 light artillery saber.  This plate was recently acquired from a 50+ year collection of belt plates and the first we've had to offer in three years. 

The plate has a nice mellow patina and has not been cleaned.  The stippling on the field is detailed and highlights the letter U.S.  Would make a great addition to any Civil War artillery or belt plate collection.
