Zinc fuse adapter for the U.S. Parrott shell, designed to house a paper timed fuse. The top has two spanner holes and a raised “W” on one end. It is believed that the “W” stands for Parrott’s foundry in West Point, New York. It measures 2 ½” in length. Excavated in Falmouth, Virginia, site of the Army of the Potomac’s encampment during the winter of 1862-1863.
