    Valley Forge Musket - Inventory Number: RIF 214

    W.L. Evens Evensburg PA

    This musket made by W. L. Evans of Evansburg, PA is dated "1826/U.S" on the rear of the lock. The lock plate is marked in front of the hammer "W.L EVENS" (misspelled by the die maker) over a small eagle and shield and "V. FORGE" under it. The left top of the barrel is marked with the inspector's initials "LS" and "US" over a "P" proof mark. Top buttplate tang marked "US".
