Virgina Cockade - Inventory Number: CON 436
This extremely rare Virginia cockade would have adorned a Virginia soldier’s hat or uniform. This example is constructed of silk red, white and blue ribbon, with a two-piece Virginia coat button, most likely made by Horstmann & Allien or Mintzer, at the center of the cockade. The button’s shank was perforated through a war period, handwritten receipt, dated February 8, 1862. The receipt, issued by John Hopkins and received by a second soldier whose name is difficult to determine.
Comes housed in 6 x 8 riker display case with red velvet and descriptive card.
