War of 1812 Rundlet Canteen / Sold

Wonderful early Rundlet, a miniaturized version of wine casks of the period. It was turned from a single piece of wood with a wood disk attached to each end. This one has the original wooden stopper and has several small cracks and some old damage to one rim. A very old inked tag reads “Runlet or canteen carried in War of 1812.” Measures 8 inches long and about 4 ½ inches at each end. This early canteen has exceptional character.
