Carte de visite photograph of the steel engraving “The Union Forever” by J.C. Buttre, based on the February 9, 1864 Lincoln photograph by Anthony Berger. In 1895 Robert Todd Lincoln wrote of this portrait “I have always thought the Brady photograph of my father, of which I attach a copy, to be the most satisfactory likeness of him.” Backmarked “PHOTOGRAPHIC ARTIST PH. RUPP. 13 AVENUE A N.Y.” In good condition with some light soiling.

Comes housed in a 6 x 8 inch display case with black velvet backing and descriptive card.
