Civil War Fireman’s Trumpet - Inventory Number: MUS 131 / SOLD
Used like an early megaphone, the fireman's trumpet, or bugle, was an important tool for directing firefighters and victims of fires during emergencies before the technology of today's megaphones came to be. It was also used to keep fire fighters on cadence while pumping the hand pumped engines. Now, the symbol is used to show rank and is displayed on the dress uniform. It continues to be a cherished symbol among firefighters today.
This example is in very good condition free of large dents yet shows some light use. Wonderful example for a Civil War Fireman or Zouave collection.
