Civil War Soldier’s Bible Inscribed to: David H. Merrihew Private Co. “D” 10th N.Y. H.A. Resident Diana, Sears County NY - Inventory Number: HIS 157 / SOLD

Leather bound testament in bearing a pair of inscriptions of Private Merrihew and several notations of scripture numbers, and small sketches.  The leather cover has some glue and tape repairs wand is detached, there are several rough or loose pages, and shows soiling from being handled and present on campaign.  At the age of 26, enlisted on 8/7/1862 at Diana, NY as a Private into "D" Co. NY 10th Heavy Artillery. He was Mustered Out on 5/29/1865 at Satterlee Hospl, Philadelphia.
