Scarce paperback edition of Hardee’s Infantry Tactics, the standard tactical manual used by the infantry of both sides at the outbreak of the Civil War. This truncated edition was intended to be a more portable and affordable to soldiers than the hardbound two-volume manual. This volume is 160 pages and depicts a soldier on the cover in camp with American flag flying in the background. The ink inscription “Major Kelley” is visible on the front cover above the title. The manual shows the typical wear and light staining from being carried and used in the field. The bottom half of the back cover is missing. A rare tactical manual with a front cover that displays well.
Comes housed in a case with black velvet backing and descriptive card.
