This pair of spurs was designed to wear on the heel of the boot with the spike at the back of the yoke penetrating the boot heel. The spurs were further secured by screws that went through small holes at the end of each arm. This style was popular with Civil War officers. They are made of brass with most of the gilt remaining and are decorated with an oak leaf and acorn motif. A very attractive set of high-grade spurs that would fit well into a Civil War officer’s display.
