Original Albumen image of Union Lieutenant with period pencil inscription on the back stating: “John Lockwood – Lieut. in Civil War – was taken prisoner – on the way to the prison he endeavored to escape by jumping from the train and was immediately shot and Killed”.
Albumen image measure 6 ¼” x 8”, small tear on left side, slight oval halo from previous period frame. Would look great on a period frame again, great history.
John W. Lockwood Enlisted at18 years old on 7/30/1862 at Port Byron, NY as a Sergeant into Co. "F" of the 111th NY Infantry.
