1860 First edition of the political debates between the Honorable Abraham Lincoln, and honorable Stephen A. Douglas. Considered one of the most important political debates in American history, this work includes five speeches by Lincoln, and three by Douglas, discussing slavery and expansion into the new territories of the state. accompanied by steel engraving of Abraham Lincoln with an example of his signature dated 1861.

A noteworthy inscription in the book beneath one of the title pages, entitled “letter from Mr. Lincoln the original owner has added the line “long. May he live”, the irony is not lost by today’s knowledge. There is also a steel engraving of Lincoln.

Comes housed in 12 x 16 riker display case with red velvet and descriptive card.
