Circa 1880s-1890s Photographic print of a group of men and a woman at Devil’s Den by Mumper and Company of Gettysburg. The image is adhered to a 12” by 10” carboard mat with Mumper’s 29 Baltimore Street address on the reverse.
Mumper & Co. was founded in 1865 by Levi Mumper, a veteran of the 127th Pennsylvania Infantry. He established his photography business in a studio on Middle Street vacated by Samuel Weaver. Over time, Mumper, after relocating to a building on Baltimore Street, built up a sizeable clientele. He moved to Littlestown in 1869 but later returned to Gettysburg and operated Mumper & Co. until 1909.
