    Relics from Union Winter Encampment Cole’s Hill, Stevensburg, Virginia - Inventory Number: GRO 046 / SOLD

    Collection of relics recovered at a “Diggin’ in Virginia” event at Cole’s Hill, Stevensburg, Virginia. Cole’s Hill sits at the northern end of Hansbrough Ridge, which served as the winter encampment of the Army of the Potomac’s 2nd Corps from November 1863 to May 1864. The lot includes dropped .58 Minia balls, a Williams cleaner type I bullet, a partially melted Sharps, and a minie ball fashioned into a musket nipple protector. The brass relics include a knapsack J hook, piece of a U.S. belt keeper, general service eagle buttons and zouave ball buttons. A nice assortment.

    Comes housed in an 8 x 12 inch display case with blue velvet backing and descriptive card.
