    Soldier’s Hymn Book, Henry C. Stewart Musician - 10th Massachusetts Infantry - Inventory Number: HIS 137 / SOLD

    Hymns, Religious and Patriotic, for the Soldier and Sailor. Published by the American Tract Society, 28 Cornhill, Boston. Cloth bound, pocket sized hymn book measuring 5” by 3 ¼” with the inscription on the first page “Henry C. Stewart / N. Adams.” Henry C. Stewart was 17 years old in June 1861 when he enlisted as a musician in the 10th Massachusetts Infantry. He was mustered out in August 1862, and at age 20 was mustered in as a 3rd Class Musician in the 2nd Brigade, 3rd Division, 6th Army Corps. A wonderful little book carried by a young Civil War soldier. 

    Henry C. Stewart - Residence North Adams MA; a 17-year-old Shoemaker. Enlisted on 6/21/1861 as a musician. On 6/21/1861 he mustered into Band MA 10th Infantry. He was Mustered Out on 8/11/1862.  (See Brigade Band USA).
