Straight Razor ID’d to Alfred Wilmarth 123rd New York Infantry - Inventory Number: PER 373 / Sold

Straight razor manufactured by Wade & Butcher of Sheffield, housed in its original cardboard carrying case. The razor is attributed to Alfred Wilmarth, who enlisted as a wagoner in the 123rd New York in September 1862 and was discharged for disability in February 1863. The blade is etched on one side with an eagle motif and British and American flags with ‘Freedom Protected” etched inside a banner beneath the eagle’s talons. The horn handle is missing a section on one side. A nice, identified soldier’s personal item.

Alfred Wilmarth - 26 years old. Enlisted on 8/22/1862 at Greenwich, NY as a Wagoner. On 9/4/1862 he mustered into "A" Co. NY 123rd Infantry. He was discharged for disability on 2/21/1863.
