The Patriot’s Hymn Book / SOLD

Pocket sized paperback book of hymns and patriotic songs published in Philadelphia in 1862. The cover depicts a camp scene with soldiers, tents, and the American Flag. The book measures 2 ¾” by 4 ¼” and is 96 pages. The last page bears the inscription in pencil “Benj Romberger Died Feb. 24, 1904, he was 83 old 1 month 12 days.” This could possibly be B.F. Romberger, who enlisted in the 5th Pennsylvania Reserves on June 21, 1861, and was discharged on a surgeon’s certificate in August 1861.

Comes housed in a 6 x 8 inch display case with red velvet backing and descriptive card.
