Description

Private Purchased Civil War Forage Cap Scarce example – Worn in the field – Not Surplus! – Inventory Number: UNI 143 / SOLD Commercially produced Civil War forage cap, popular with officers and soldiers that preferred to wear a cap of higher quality that those issued by the government. This example has a brim bound with painted cloth, and the body is lined with brown cotton with a unique textured pattern. The body of the cap rises 3 ¼” at the front. The leather sweatband is fragile and is partially missing. There is some moth damage to the crown of the cap, exposing the reed used to reinforce the piping around the crown. Overall, a nice Civil War forage cap that shows genuine wear in the field.   Inventory Number: UNI 143 / SOLD
