Cavalry Hardee Hat Cord

 

This civil war wool hat cord was issued for use with the Hardee hat and grew popularity amongst soldiers that they often adorn any flat brimmed cap.  “Legend has it” that the acorns at the end of the cords were designed to bounce off the brim of the hat to keep riders awake. The acorn and tassels and body all have a nice light patina to them. Of the hat cords made for the three main branches of the army, the cavalry cord is the hardest to come by. A nice example for any cavalry collection.
