Description

11 mm Lefaucheux Pinfire Revolver – Inventory Number: HAN 196 / SOLD Belgian manufactured Lefaucheux double action pinfire revolver. Based on the system designed by Casimir Lefaucheux and his son Eugene, the Lefaucheux was one of the first successful revolvers to use a self-contained cartridge. The U.S. government purchased 11,000 M1854 Lefaucheux revolvers during the Civil War, and many were privately purchased and carried by officers on both sides throughout the conflict. This highly attractive example measures 12” in overall length with detailed engraved scroll work on the frame, cylinder, trigger guard, and butt. The barrel is marked “C LEFAUCHEUX INV. BREVETE” and the cylinder has the oval and “ELG” Belgian proof mark. The double action trigger is no longer mechanically functional. The two-piece ebony wood grips are in very good condition. A highly attractive Civil War period pinfire revolver.    Inventory Number: HAN 196 / SOLD
