American Eagle Pommel Sword and Belt 

 

Wonderful eagle pommel officer sword, a style used extensively from about 1800-1850. This example features the classic eagle pommel with a plain brass handguard. The ribbed bone handle has aged to a pleasing yellow tone. The ricasso is marked “S&K” for Schnitzler & Kirschbaum of Solingen, Germany. The blade retains most of the original bluing and is decorated with floral and patriotic designs in gold wash, with areas of scattered pitting and light rust. The leather scabbard is solid and retains both brass mounts and drag. The original saber belt is made from red Moroccan leather with gold floral accents and retains the original ca. 1818-1835 militia style bely plate and clasp. The sword measures 36” in total length. A very attractive eagle pommel sword and belt.
