Description

Cavalry Officer’s Saber – Inventory Number: SWO 061  French manufactured 1822 Heavy Cavalry saber with horn grip.  Maker marked “G. BARRE A PARIS” on the ricasso.  Guard is embellished with oak leaves.  The original braided leather sword knot with gold bullion tassel is still present.  The blade is bright with some polishing marks.  It is housed in the original scabbard, which exhibits several “rattle dents” toward the bottom third to lessen the noise of clanking metal while on horseback.  A beautiful sword overall!
