Description

Civil War 1863 Dated Fabric Dye

 

Manufactured by Howe and Stevens of Boston.  This full paper package of fabric dye bears a nice engraving of Lady Liberty with a federal shield, the face has an ink stamped patent date of “Oct. 13th, 1863”.  The instructions for use are printed on the sides of the package.  Reverse contains patent information.  Bottom has a one cent postage stamp.  Neat item of everyday use, during the civil war that is now very difficult to find.
