Civil War Cross Belt Plate

 

Classic shoulder belt plate used by militia regiments into the Civil War.   This example is constructed of concave stamped sheet brass with three brass hooks are soldered to the back.   Very nice even patina.   Soldiers name “Rice” lightly carved into the reverse of the plate.
