Description

Civil War U.S. Issue Belt and Buckle

 

Original Civil War Union infantry enlisted man’s belt. The leather is stiff but still retains its original bridle leather finish. The belt is stamped with the maker mark “E.A. GROSSMAN & Co. NEWARK N.J” as well as “J.C. MILLER/U.S. ORD. DEPT./SUB INSPECTOR.” The brass belt retainer is present, but the hooks are detached from the end of the leather belt. The buckle is the arrow hooked pattern and retains a rich, untouched patina. A nice addition to a Civil War infantry or accoutrement display.
