Civil War Model 1816 Conversion M.T. Wickham Musket – SOLD Possible Confederate usage.  The stock has been shaved down to fit an iron buttplate, as well as, the presence of a standing rear site is indicative of Confederate use.  In 1813, Wickham was a government inspector of arms at a U.S. arsenal, and later was listed as a gunsmith in Maryland in the musket manufacturing business. The lockplate is not dated but is marked  “M. T. WICKHAM / PHILa” in a crescent shape.  This flintlock longarm was converted percussion.  The stock has a inspectors cartouche.   The barrel is secured to the stock by three iron bands.
