Civil War Relic Federal Regulation Cavalry Picket Pin

 

Picket pins were used to stake-down a horse temporarily while on picket-duty or grazing. It measures 13” long with an iron “figure 8” loop that swivels.  Recovered from Virginia.  A very nice solid example of a staple implement of the cavalry.
