Description

Civil War Richmond Sharps Carbine Bullet – .52 Caliber

Excavated Civil War-era .52 caliber Sharps carbine bullet identified as a Richmond Sharps pattern projectile. The Richmond Sharps carbines were produced by Confederate authorities after machinery from the Sharps Rifle Manufacturing Company was acquired and relocated to Richmond, Virginia during the war. These carbines were issued primarily to Confederate cavalry units and represent one of the South’s more notable attempts at domestic arms production.

This example exhibits the characteristic conical nose and stepped base associated with Sharps ammunition. The bullet retains an attractive excavated patina and is mounted in a labeled display case, making it an excellent addition to any Civil War ammunition, cavalry, or Confederate arms collection.
