Description

Confederate Richmond Socket Bayonet

A scarce and authentic example of a Confederate Richmond–made triangular socket bayonet without fullers, produced at the Richmond Armory during the Civil War. These bayonets were crafted to fit the standard .58 caliber rifle muskets manufactured at the Richmond facility, which utilized captured Harpers Ferry machinery early in the war.

This example displays classic Confederate manufacturing traits—a hand-forged socket and blade with visible tool marks and slightly uneven finish, reflecting the armory’s wartime production constraints. The bayonet has a deep, untouched brown patina with appealing surface texture and retains its original locking ring.

A rare Confederate Richmond Armory bayonet, representing the ingenuity and resourcefulness of Southern wartime production — a must-have for any serious Civil War arms collection.
