Description
Pistol Powder Flask
Beautiful and compact 19th-century pistol powder flask, formed of copper or brass with a warm, untouched patina. The body is embossed with a bold palmette / shell-form motif, a popular decorative pattern on mid-century American and European flasks. Fitted with an original brass collar and spring-loaded dispensing spout, complete with the side-mounted thumb lever.
Exhibits honest age and use, including scattered darkened oxidation and handling wear, consistent with period service. Small-format flasks of this type were intended for percussion pistols and small-caliber arms, and were commonly carried by civilians, travelers, and soldiers alike during the mid-19th century.
An attractive and well-preserved example of a classic pistol powder flask.
