An exceptional, near mint example of the U.S. Model 1816 socket bayonet, accompanied by its original scabbard and exhibiting remarkable survival of factory finish throughout. The blade retains a bright, smooth surface with minimal age toning, while the socket and shank show crisp edges and clean metal indicative of careful preservation.

 

The original scabbard remains intact and well fitted, displaying excellent condition with proper throat and tip, complementing the bayonet as a complete and seldom-encountered set. Overall presentation suggests minimal use, with surfaces far above the norm for this pattern.
