1863 Dated Belt Rig with Plate and Cap Box - Inventory Number: LEA 357 / SOLD
Classic U.S. Belt constructed of black bridle leather with brass keeper device. The belt bears an oval manufacturer marking and the date of “1863”. The belt retains the original lead filled brass faced U.S. Bickle with all three attachment devices present. Also present is the percussion cap box that appears to have been present since the war. The box retains both loops (one separated at the top, otherwise stable. The finial is present, void of wool and pick. The leather remains supple and shows the addition of 4 more sizing holes for a skinnier soldier. A very nice, dated example that shows honest use.
