Confederate Foot Officer's Sword by Boyle & Gamble Richmond, VA - Inventory Number: CON 615
Etched CSA and Flag Motifs - Original Scabbard and Knot
A highly desirable Confederate foot officer's sword by the noted Richmond firm Boyle & Gamble. This classic Southern-made weapon features a slightly curved blade with deep, crisp etching on both sides. One side bears a bold "CSA" in large Old English script, while the opposite side displays a finely rendered First National Confederate flag a rarely encountered and patriotic motif that adds significant historical appeal.
The brass hilt retains its original unstirred patina and exhibits the typical Boyle & Gamble guard design with integral branches. The grip is wrapped in original leather with single-strand brass wire intact. Accompanying the sword is its original russet brown leather scabbard, which remains in very good condition and features a topstitched seam running its full length. The brass mounts are undisturbed, and the throat and drag are original.
Of particular note is the presence of the original Confederate leather sword knot-a seldom-seen survival that adds both authenticity and visual appeal.
Condition: Blade shows scattered light age staining but etchings remain sharp. Hilt and grip are strong with minimal wear. Scabbard leather remains supple with a strong seam and sound mounts. Sword knot is complete and original.
A rare, fully original example of a Confederate officer's sidearm with exceptional visual and historical attributes.
