1915 United Confederate Veterans 25th Annual Reunion Badge - Inventory Number: VET 262 SOLD

Badge made for the 25th Annual UCV reunion in Richmond, Virginia in 1915. The brass pin depicts the Robert E. Lee monument in Richmond with “Richmond, Virginia” and “1915” below. A red and white silk ribbon is affixed to the pin with “Aide Commander in Chief” printed in gold. The back of the ribbon has been repaired with a line of clear glue. Suspended from the ribbon is a laurel wreath medallion with the profile bust of Robert E. Lee at the center of an enamel Confederate battle flag. A very attractive and historic United Confederate Veterans medal.

The United Confederate Veterans (UCV, or simply Confederate Veterans) was an American Civil War veterans' organization headquartered in New Orleans, Louisiana. It was organized on June 10, 1889, by ex-soldiers and sailors of the Confederate States as a merger between the Louisiana Division of the Veteran Confederate States Cavalry Association; N. B. Forrest Camp of Chattanooga, Tennessee; Tennessee Division of the Veteran Confederate States Cavalry Association; Tennessee Division of Association of Confederate Soldiers; Benevolent Association of Confederate Veterans of Shreveport, Louisiana; Confederate Association of Iberville Parish, Louisiana; Eighteenth Louisiana; Adams County (Mississippi) Veterans' Association; Louisiana Division of the Army of Tennessee; and Louisiana Division of the Army of Northern Virginia. The Union equivalent of the UCV was the Grand Army of the Republic.
