Flask decorated with a military design that shows a spread-winged eagle facing to his left perched upon arrows and olive branches. Below this is a pair of clasped hands surrounded by an embossed oval of twenty stars. Directly below the stars is the military motif in panoply of flags, cannon, muskets and trumpets, all under a large shield device embossed with the letters “U S.” Two, small, brass triangle swivel rings are attached to each side of the flask’s upper neck. A dark, rich bronze patina envelopes the entire flask body and presents a pleasing and handsome appearance. Top is lacking the thumb stopper, bears the marking “N.P. Ames” and the date of “1846”. Nice representative example.
