Cavalry Carbine Sling - Inventory Number: CAV 102 / SOLD
A very nice complete example of a federal issue cavalry sling in black bridle leather. Issued to and used by Union cavalry prior to and during the Civil War. Worn over the soldier’s shoulder with the snap hook attached to the sling bar on the carbine.
The bridle leather surface is very strong and supple. Maker’s mark is present between the buckles as are various others including “US” mark "12" and “Springfield, Mass”. A very nice example with supple bridle leather. Brass buckle and tip “batwings” original to the sling having never been cleaned!
