This image shows a cigar smoked by General Ulysses S. Grant, that was left at Houseworth's Photographic Studio in San Francisco, California. Grant was known for his prolific cigar smoking, reportedly consuming up to 15 cigars daily. The photograph itself dates between 1874 and 1886, corresponding to the address of Houseworth's studio mentioned on the imprint.
