    Cell Lock from Norristown Prison Patented 1850 - Inventory Number: MIS 216 / SOLD

    Joseph Nock Locksmith patented his prison cell door lock in 1850 and began making them for the newly built Montgomery County Prison in Norristown, PA (finished in 1854) Came from the lower-level cell doors.  Hese were given to several of Norristown’s elite and political population upon their removal as gifts.  This example retains nearly all the black enamel painted finish.  The brass federal shield plaque reads: “Jos Nock Philada Patented 1850”.
