Civil War Bullet in Wood from The Battle of Chancellorsville - Inventory Number: BUL 346 / SOLD

A well-preserved piece of a tree with a Civil War bullet fired into it during the Battle of Chancellorsville. The wood measures 4.5 inches long. The battle against Joseph Hooker’s Army of the Potomac in the dense thickets surrounding Chancellorsville is considered Gen. Robert E. Lee’s greatest military victory.  It was the last battle for Confederate Lt. Gen. Thomas J. “Stonewall” Jackson, who was mortally wounded there by friendly fire. Over 30,000 men were casualties of the battle between April 30 and May 6, 1863.
