Civil War Guitar with Original Coffin Case - Inventory Number: MUS 089 / Sold
This is a rare Civil War guitar featuring the classic 1860's "ice cream cone" style neck joint. Several makers shared similar designs such as Martin, Hall & Sons as well as Ashborn.
The ebony heads are original to the brass turners. The fretted neck exhibits four circular mother of pearl inlays in a diamond pattern. Body is in excellent condition and has one hairline crack beneath the right side of the neck. The guitar is made with Brazilian Rosewood Veneer and a spruce top. It has it's original "end pin" with raised diamond design and mounted with six mother of pearl inlayed ebony bridge pins and a bone saddle.
This is a wonderful period guitar that comes with its original coffin case that would have been purchased with the guitar. Case measures 37 3/4" long x 13" wide at the base.
A high quality original 1860's guitar worthy of any Civil War or early musical instrument collection.
