Civil War New Testament Identified to Charles E. Brewster of Watertown, CT. - Inventory Number: HIS 136 / SOLD

Pocket New Testament in hardcover with a patriotic insert glued to the inside of the front cover. It depicts an American Flag and banner with the dedication “to the defenders of their country! Presented by the New York Bible Society 1865.” These were purchased by that organization and distributed to the troops. There is significant wear to the bible, but the binding is still solid, and the condition is good overall. A nice example of a Civil War soldier’s pocket bible.
