Civil War Soldier's Mess Plate - Inventory Number: CAM 395 / SOLD

 This is an authentic Civil War soldier’s mess plate; often mistakenly called tin. This plate is, as most so-called “tin ware” of the Civil War period is, was manufactures of rolled sheet iron, cold-dipped in tin, as a rust and corrosion inhibitor.  The plate is in good condition, retaining some of its original tinning.  These are no longer easy to fins and were an essential element of all Civil War soldier’s haversacks.  This pattern is considered military, a state issued example rather than just one of the era.
