Non-excavated Civil War pattern 1839 US enlisted belt buckle. Lead filled with arrow style hooks behind the letter “U”. The face is stamped “26” between the letters, likely a regimental number, and exhibits a mellowed brass patina. A nice specimen. These numerical marked belt plates have been attributed to Ohio troops.
Comes housed in a 6 x 8 inch display case with red velvet backing and descriptive card.
