Classic Civil War-Era Horn-Handled Clip Point Fighting Knife - Inventory Number: EDG 128
A well-preserved example of a mid-19th century American fighting knife, typical of those carried by Confederate and Union soldiers alike during the Civil War. This unmarked, clip-point blade features a hand-forged appearance with evidence of field sharpening and age patina consistent with wartime use.
The handle is crafted from natural horn, exhibiting a rich dark tone and textured grain, secured by period brass pins. A simple iron crossguard remains tightly affixed. No sheath is present.
Knives of this style were often privately purchased and carried as essential tools and close-combat weapons during the war. A fine example of a true soldier’s blade from the Civil War era.
