Excellent Non-Excavated Example
According to author Steve Mullinax in his book “CONFEDERATE BELT BUCKLES & PLATES” a considerable quantity of these plates were issued to the Army of Tennessee beginning in 1862.
The rope boarder plate is noted for its simple letters with an inner border giving the appearance of twisted rope. The plate is stamped on thick sheet brass, this example has a hook assembly reminiscent of the Union, with the tongue hook showing hand filing marks.
This example was from the collection of Steve Mullinax, noted author of the book on Confederate Belt Plates. A rare and unquestionably original non-excavated C.S. Rope Boarder belt plate.
