    Decorative discharge certificate of 1' Lieutenant John Maguire (alternately listed as McGuire), who enlisted in the 42 New York as a private in June 1861 and rose through the ranks until he was mustered out in July 1864. He saw heavy action in the Army of the Potomac from Ball's Bluff to Petersburg. The colored certificate was printed in 1863 and filled in by hand in ink calligraphy and includes an albumen photograph of Maguire. Includes a gilt mat and antique wood frame which measures 24. ¼" by 21 ¼". An excellent display for any Civil War relic room.

    John McGuire - 29 years old. Enlisted on 6/22/1861 at Long Island, NY as a Private. On 6/22/1861 he mustered into "F" Co. NY 42nd Infantry. He was Mustered Out on 7/13/1864 at New York, NY. Promotions: Ist Sergt. Sergt 6/23/1861. 2nd Lieut 10/23/1862. 1st Lieut 1/19/1864. Capt 2/29/1864. Intra Regimental Company Transfers: 6/23/1861 from company F to company C. 9/12/1863 from company C to company D.
