Nice, excavated example of the standard regulation eagle breast plate worn by infantryman on the cartridge box sling. The face exhibits high detail and a rich green patina. The reverse still retains both iron attachment hooks. Excavated in Falmouth, Virginia, site of the Army of the Potomac’s encampment during the winter of 1862-1863. Plates in this condition are rarely dug today.
