Gettysburg Land Deed - Dated March 24th, 1832. / Sold
Measures approximately 18 1/2" x 22 1/2", actual 16 1/4" x 20 5/8", professional mounted and wrapped on archival board for protection. This document is in very good condition, with clear bold writing that in detail describes the location of a plot of land sold by William Gillespie and his wife Catherine to the borough of Gettysburg presented by Joseph Little for the amount of fifty dollars. The following are two excerpts detailing the location of the land.
"this Indenture, made the twenty fourth Day of March in the Year of our Lord One Thousand Eight Hundred and Thirty-two Between William Gillespie of the Borough of Gettysburg in the County of Adams, and the State of Pennsylvania and Catherine his wife of the one part and joseph Little of the Borough of Gettysburg County & State a foresaid of the other part." The "Beginning on York Street thence by west street south thirty three degrees, east one hundred and eighty one feet six inches to a twelve feet Ally thence by the said Ally. North fifty seven degrees, east, sixty feet to Lot Number five, Thence by the same North thirty three degrees, west, one hundred and eighty-one feet six inches to York street a foresaid thence by the same south fifty seven degrees, west, sixty feet to the place of beginning it being the same lot or piece of ground wich, Frederick Keefer & his wife Mary by there Indenture bearing date the second day of March in the year of Our-Lord one Thousand Eight hundred and fifteen,....."
