Military Fund ledger book for the First Brigade, 14th Division of the Pennsylvania Militia notes fines paid and expenses for the organization. Includes the signatures of S. B. Crawford Brigadier General and Robert McWilliams. The Pennsylvania Militia, prior to the Civil War, fell to the control of the Adjutant General. He issued orders and regulations according to the laws governing the volunteer and uniformed Militia. Companies were organized at various towns and communities according to need and the local interest. Ledger measures 6 1/2" x 7 3/4". Includes a photocopy of Joseph J. Jones article, "The Western Pennsylvania Historical Magazine, Volume 57, Number 2, April 1974" pages 199-217.
